Personal Information

If you're anything like me, you're curious about the "story behind the story" and are probably wondering who I am and what I do outside of my professional life. I hope this page satisfies your curiosity.

Ch. Daulton's Darling Darby: This is my family with our Glen of Imaal Terrier-- Darby. She rides underneath the baby buggy because she's both smart AND lazy. "Who's taking who for a ride!?" It is never dull owning (and being owned by) a terrier. When we adopted Darby we agreed to show her if she turned out to be "show quality." A year later, we'd championed her (showing her ourselves) and participated in the AKC/Eukanuba National Championships in Tampa, FLA. Darby is now retired from showing so she can amuse us full-time.

Dog Gone Model: Darby is a bit of a ham. She'd do just about anything for a treat. Sometimes my little one calls her "crazy dog" because she runs around like a whirling dervish (think of the Tazmanian Devil). She can sit on her posterior like a ground hog. We call this the "Glen Sit."

Shades of Green and Lots of Grins: Moments of insanity plague us all and our family is no exception. In a crazy moment, we decided to allow Darby to have a litter of puppies. We arranged a "match" for her with another "Glen" named Winston and 9 weeks later, the puppies were born. Five wonderful pups (all named for shades of green because their birth occurred the week of St. Patrick's Day) made their way into our family room and hearts on March 14, 2007! It was an amazing experience to see the miracle of birth up close. Everyone in our family learned, worked, and laughed a lot. Two pups remain in Columbus (Emerald Green and Kelly Green), one lives in South Carolina (Chartreuse), and another in Minnesota (Candy Apple Green). And no, we couldn't bear to part with them all and kept the only male--Hunter Green.

The Dog so sweet we call him Hunny: Hunny/Hunter was too wonderful to place with another family and we kept him for our own. As you can see, he's following in mom's footsteps (or Buggy whichever the case may be!)

My Little One: This is my daughter Martha (pictured at 2 1/2). She is my "partner in grime" -- at least when we're gardening togther! She's quite good at weeding, loves to sing songs, play games, and make messes. She looks like her dad. Lucky girl!

My One and Only: This is my husband, Dennis, and our little one. Dennis and I went to high school together and met again at the Dublin Irish Festival 15 years later. When I tried to set him up with someone else, Cupid's arrow backfired and hit me instead! What a fortunate accident. Dennis is very patient which makes him a wonderful mate for me. He works on the faculty of the Occupational Therapy Master's program at Ohio State and therapy in a variety of settings. He most enjoys working with adults with mental retardation.

Snapshots: I enjoy photography and taking pictures of things. I'm not sure if I'm any good at it but I'm getting better thanks to the immediate feedback of my digital camera. And I've found when you photograph beautiful things, it is hard to take a bad picture.

Gardening is Good: I enjoy gardening tremendously. It keeps me in touch with changes in the "real world" and grounded (pun intended). This summer we made an adult-sized swing to hang from one of the 80- year old Schumard Oaks in our yard. It makes the garden even more enjoyable.
