We spent Saturday night at Bob's house in Stow, then drove to Medina early Sunday morning to start the ride. After registering, we rode out of the Medina County Fairgrounds shortly after 8 a.m. The weather was clear and unseasonably cool; great for biking.
We arrived in Canal Fulton before 11 a.m. and visited our friends Joe
and Linda, whose beautifully restored Victorian home was
on our route. Joe and Nancy were law school study partners at Akron University.
Joe and Linda have lived in the same house ever since so are easy to
keep in touch with!
We arrived in Orrville mid-afternoon after 51 miles of riding, and pitched
a tent among hundreds of others. Why a tent, since we were staying with
friends? The tent was for our pampered bicycles! It provided a dry and
secure place to store them during our absence.
Nancy's friend Julie then drove over from Wooster to pick us up
for our stay at her home that night. Nancy and Julie were colleagues
at Rubbermaid in the 1980s.
