Tom wilcox @ OTTERBEIN COLLEGE

My name is Tom Wilcox and you have reached my home page.

I am proud to be one of Otterbein College’s technical specialists; In my role at the College, I design and support digital media installations, especially for classrooms.  I also produce digital and web-based media for the College and provide technical training to staff and faculty members.  My main focus is to find ways to facilitate pedagogy through instructional technologies.

Recently, I have focused on the creation and delivery of educational, web-based media, such as blogs, podcasts and online video.  I also assist College members in understanding digital rights management technologies and copyright concerns in the digital age.  I strongly encourage the use of Creative Commons licenses in both the production and deployment of student and faculty content.

I currently serve as a technical advisor to three grant-funded projects and initiatives that are researching and developing web-based pedagogical methods, and I participate in the College’s copyright committee and Simple Methods for Advancing Resourceful Teaching with Technology (S.M.A.R.T.T.) group.

This image depicts Otterbein College’s iconic Towers Hall and is a detail from a photo-montage by memory-cardfull.

One of the things I love about Otterbein is its commitment to embracing and respecting many diverse cultures, ideas, and perspectives-- a strength perhaps illustrated symbolically by the several perspectives present in this photo.

Otterbein College is located in scenic Westerville, Ohio-- a growing bucolic suburb of Columbus situated just a few miles south-east of the Polaris Parkway commercial district.  If you would like to visit the campus, please refer to the map at the bottom of this page.
