1.  Read the Preface of The Case of the Killer Robot (CKR).

 

2.  Read the first 12 articles from CKR (pages 13-55).

 

3.  Appendix C contains lists of discussion questions for the articles.  Answer, in writing, the following questions.  Please use a word processor; I will not accept handwritten answers.

 

Write your answer immediately after reading the article and before reading the next article!  Answers to early questions are easily influenced by information given in subsequent articles.

4.  Turn in your written answers and participate in discussions on those articles


For this assignment, the articles will be partitioned into 5 groups.  The groups are unequal in size because the articles are unequal in length.

 

Group 1: articles 1-3.  Discussion leader is William Oetting.

Group 2: articles 4-6.  Discussion leader is Josie Madl.

Group 3: articles 7-8.  Discussion leader is Brandon Heimsoth.

Group 4: articles 9-10.  Discussion leader is Jim Hodge.

Group 5: articles 11-12.  Discussion leader is Jerry Tjiputra.

 

In addition to items 1-4 above, discussion leaders must do the following, for each article assigned:

 

5.  Write a one paragraph summary of the article. 

6.  Develop a written discussion outline that includes significant ethical issue(s).

7.  Lead the class discussion of the article.
