Anthony Costa,
is a native of Erie, Pennsylvania, and teaches clarinet, clarinet ensemble and music theory courses at Otterbein College. He has served as clarinetist and bass clarinetist with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra and Dayton Opera Orchestra since 1999. Dr. Costa is an associate musician with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, and has played with the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, Akron Symphony Orchestra, Canton Symphony Orchestra, Wheeling (WVA) Symphony Orchestra, Richmond (IN) Symphony Orchestra, Lancaster Festival Orchestra and Roanoke (VA) Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, he has performed with such artists as The Three Tenors, Ray Charles, Sarah Chang, Midori and The Big Voodoo Daddy.
Costa has been a guest performer at the International Clarinet Association's Clarinetfest in 1998 and 2006, the "Oklahoma Clarinet Symposium" in 2005, the Ohio University (Athens, Ohio) "Clarinet Gala" in 2005 and 2007 and the Allegheny Music Festival (PA) in 2002.
An active chamber musician, Dr. Costa is a member of the Prestige Clarinet Quartet and the "Razbia Ensemble," which worked two years in Chamber Music America's "Rural Residency Program" in Mississippi County, Arkansas. He is featured on Cincinnati composer Rick Sowash's two recordings of chamber music, "Eroica" (2001) and "Sanctuary at 3am" (2004).
Costa attended the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where he received a bachelor's degree in music education and clarinet performance. He received his masters degree in clarinet performance from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA and his doctorate of musical arts degree from The Ohio State University. His teachers have included Carmine Campione, Anthony Gigliotti, Ronald Aufmann and James Pyne. He lives in Columbus, Ohio with his wife Robyn.
