Ransom Clements

Ransom Clements was a student at Otterbein College before
he joined the infantry in the Union Army. His date of birth was November
1, 1837. His birth place was in Union County, Ohio. Ransom Clements enlisted
in the Union army as a private on December 12, 1861. He was twenty four years
old when he enlisted. On December 12th, 1861 he mustered into the 73rd infantry
of Company “C”. Clements was wounded and captured August 30, 1862 in the
2nd battle of Bull Run. He returned January 9th, 1863, but the place was
not stated. Clements was discharged from the army on a Surgeon’s certificate
of disability on February 5th, 1863. Ransom Clements died of blood poisoning
on May 4th, 1892 in Westerville, Ohio. He is buried at Green Lawn Cemetery
in Franklin Township.
