Friday 10:15 AM CDTLanded in Kansas City. Our music for the drive from K.C. to Springfield included Joni Mitchell "Court and Spark", Nirvana "Unplugged" and Sheryl Crow "Tuesday Night Music Club".
Friday 12:30 PMlunch with Mike Tesmer at his home in Harrisonville. Mike is my best friend from high school (Upper Sandusky, OH).
Friday 4:00 PMWe arrived in Springfield. Nancy dropped me off at SMSU and I visited Shirley Keck, Barb Helvey, Jerry Yoakum, Yang Wang, and Jamil Saquer. Nancy drove to Webster and visited Laura Ward and Sharon Conner. She also briefly visited Frances Smith and Pauline Baldwin.
Friday 6:00 PM"Beer" at Springfield Brewing. Visited with Yungchen Cheng, Jim Skinner, Les Reid, Cameron Wickham, Eric and Kathy Shade, Sam Lynch, Shelby and Olga Kilmer, Jeff and Chris Garcia, and Dan Busenberrick.

Friday 9:30 PMRetreated to Anne and Burl Brown's for the night.
Saturday Oct 11, 8:25 AMJazzercise with Marion Painter. We also saw and spoke with Trudy, Edith, Deb, Susan, Pat, Janelle, Polly, Kate, Laura and Brandy.
Saturday 10:00 AMWent to Belle's house and from there to visit Bernice Mathews at her apartment in Maranatha Village. Belle is on the right.
Saturday 12:00 PMLunched with Belle at Mudhouse Cafe.
Saturday 1:30 PMVisited with Frances Smith and Pauline Baldwin at their home on Catalpa St. Here is Frances with the quilt she stitched.
Saturday 2:30 PMPat Lockhart joined us at Frances and Pauline's home. Pat is on the left holding Willie, Pauline is seated, and Frances is on the right.
Saturday 3:30 PMWe visited the Dickerson Park Zoo. Most of the animals were mellow, but the Missouri wolves for some reason felt the urge to howl for us.
Saturday 4:30 PMRetreated to Anne and Burl's to prepare for the evening.
Saturday 6:00 PMWent to Joyce Eiken and Bruce Adib-Yazdi's home for homemade pear wine and cheese, poolside.
Saturday 8:00 PMDinner at Gilardi's. We dined on Caesar salad, crabcakes, Gilardi's pasta (cream sauce and sausage), tuna steak w/ spinach and mashed potatoes, we turned down the offer of veal shanks, and had either flourless chocolate tort or ice cream with pecan caramel crust. Saturday 10:30 PMWe returned to Bruce and Joyce's for a late night swim in their new heated in-ground swimming pool.
Saturday 11:59 PMWe retreated to Anne and Burl's for the night.
Sunday Oct 12, 9:30 AMWe visited Kathy Kneedler at her apartment, then went to Scrambler's for breakfast.
Sunday 11:30 AMWent downtown to walk through Jordan Valley Park and Founders Park. This was such a delight, since neither were much beyond the drawing board when we moved away two years ago. Next time you go to Founders park, see if you can find our brick!
Sunday 1:00 PMLunch at Panera Bread with Erin and Julia.
Sunday 3:30 PMWe took a 20 mile bike ride with Anne and Burl from their place out to Strafford and back. Thanks for letting us borrow the bikes! Can you see Anne's spiderweb trail?
Sunday 6:00 PMBack at Anne and Burl's, we lounged in the hot tub then dined on grilled pork steaks, grilled mixed vegetables (minus carrots), and baked sweet potatotes. Then we drove into town for Andy's concretes and other custard delights. By 9:30, we were down for the count.
Monday Oct 13, 8:30 AMWe left for the drive back to Kansas City. Music for the trip included Los Lobos "Just Another Band from East L.A." and Indigo Girls "Strange Fire".
Monday 11:30 AMArrived at 75th Street Brewery in the rain for a fine lunch.
Monday 2:45 PMWe lifted off from Kansas City.
Monday 8:00 AM EDTWe arrived home to a hungry cat! Thanks to all for sharing a slice of your lives with us over this long weekend trip.
