GOBA Day 7: Wooster to Medina

After an early breakfast, Gary drove us to Wooster for the last day of our journey. The sun had returned, giving us sunshine on all five of our riding days. It was a well routed final day, short and flat. We followed Killbuck Creek most of the morning and arrived at our lunch stop in Lodi shortly after 10 a.m. I was surprised to see an Amish buggy leaving the lunch stop among the piles of bicycles and decided to snap a quick photo.

We had a relaxing lunch stop on the town square. The featured GOBA activity was a Karaoke contest in the gazebo. If you look closely at the photo below, it may appear the singers have their heads bowed in meditation or prayer. In fact, they had been singing Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" and were rocking their heads in rhythm to the instrumental break (remember "Wayne's World"?).

From lunch, the ride back into Medina to complete our GOBA 2004 tour was flat and swift.

Here Bob and I are carrying bags back to Bob's truck at the end of the ride. On day 1, each bag was given a colored tag to identify which semi it belonged in. Our color was purple. Each morning we would pack our bags and load them into the back of the truck marked "purple". Since we generally left after 8 a.m., the trucks were nearly full. This also means that we never had to unload our bags! Early arrivers had to unload ours to get to their own.

Our ride for the day had been an easy 37 miles, to make a total of 241 miles for the week. The weather and all our hosts had been perfect. The trip gave all of us a much needed time to relax and reflect.
