The lunch stop in Wilmot came after only 18 miles and was hot, crowded and dangerous due to traffic on US 250. Once we got into Wayne County approaching Apple Creek then Wooster, the hills became ever gentler. The route took us past the OARDC (Ohio Agricultual R & D Center), where we were the only riders to visit the rose garden, a favorite spot from our Wooster days.
We spent the next 36 hours with our friends Gary and Linda at their lake
home south of Millersburg. Gary was also a colleague of Nancy at
Rubbermaid in the 1980s and has since retired. A cold front passed through
this evening, bringing strong winds and thunderstorms through the area.
Our bicycles were safe and sound inside our tent at the Wayne County fairgrounds.
