GOBA Day 5: Bolivar to Wooster

This was the shortest ride of the trip so far, 46 miles, but the first 30 of those were very strenuous due to the hills of Tuscarawas and Holmes counties. It was also the warmest, with afternoon temperatures in the high 80s. The sun shone brightly all day as it had all week.

The lunch stop in Wilmot came after only 18 miles and was hot, crowded and dangerous due to traffic on US 250. Once we got into Wayne County approaching Apple Creek then Wooster, the hills became ever gentler. The route took us past the OARDC (Ohio Agricultual R & D Center), where we were the only riders to visit the rose garden, a favorite spot from our Wooster days.

We spent the next 36 hours with our friends Gary and Linda at their lake home south of Millersburg. Gary was also a colleague of Nancy at Rubbermaid in the 1980s and has since retired. A cold front passed through this evening, bringing strong winds and thunderstorms through the area. Our bicycles were safe and sound inside our tent at the Wayne County fairgrounds.
