Due: Monday, March 30, 1998

Follow the outline below in composing and assembling the design document. The modeling methods described in chapters 6, 13, 14, and 15 will be most useful. Use those which are most appropriate to the system structure.

Designate one or two members of the team to be the design document editor(s). This assignment has both individual and team grading components. Use the credits section to tell me who contributed what to the final design document. I realize that all of you will contribute to all aspects of the design itself.

The detailed outline you should use is on the back of this sheet.

collection of module specifications
specification for function includes:

name
return type
input parameters
output parameters
in/out parameters
purpose
pre-conditions (what it assumes to be true at time of call)
post-conditions (what will be true at end of call)

5.0 Data Structure Designs

5.1 Disk Files

record layout (name, type and length of each field)
names will match Data Dictionary entries
estimated maximum size

5.2 Memory

record layout (name, type and length of each field)
names will match Data Dictionary entries
estimated maximum size

6.0 Dictionary

6.1 Subsystems: textual description of each subsystem

6.2 Modules: textual description of each module

6.3 Data: brief description of each data element

7.0 Credits : who contributed what parts of the document (be specific)
