Alice in Action Chapter 1 Assignment : 10 points
Readings listed by textbook section number. Read while Alice is running.
- Section 1.1...Read: Topic is downloading and installing Alice. Do this if you want to install Alice at home.
- Section 1.2...Read and Do: Topic is the Alice Tutorial. Go through one or more of the tutorials.
- Section 1.3...Read: Topic is filmmaking metaphor. Creating an Alice program is like creating a film, with actors (nouns, objects), actions (verbs, methods)
and flow (sequence). A complex film can be broken down into scenes and complex scenes into shots.
- Section 1.4...Read and Do: Topic is writing your first Alice program. Follow all the steps to compose your program as you read.
- Section 1.5...Read: Topic is the Details area that each object has. There are 3 tabbed panes: Properties (settings), Methods (behavior-producing messages),
Functions (question-asking messages)
- Section 1.6...Optional: Topic is the quad view feature. Get three additional view of world: front, top, right.
Programming Projects to do, listed by Programming Project number.
- Project 1.2: Finish the world from section 1.5.1 and demo for me.
- Project 1.6: Build this new world and demo for me.
