I caught up with the others at Lock 7 on the Welland Canal. Home of the Kissing Rock. Maggie and Simon are friendly but not up for kissing. This is reportedly where sailors kissed their beloved goodbye before setting off for the great lakes or the St Lawrence river and ocean beyond. The Welland Canal runs parallel to the Niagara River, several miles west, and runs all the way from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario (about 27 miles). Most of the locks are in the area of the Escarpment (makes sense). It is the only passage.
