We stayed with the family of Hrafnkell Gislason, a friend of mine from Pitt days, at their home in suburban Reykjavik. Here they are in a photo taken a few days later at the Snaefellsjokull glacier. From left to right: Hrafnkell Gislason, Bjorg Eysteinsdottir, Eysteinn Hrafnkelsson (in front), Snorri Hrafnkelsson, Margret Lilja Hrafnkelsdottir, and Elin Soley Hrafnkelsdottir. Eysteinn and Elin are twins. In Iceland, a person's last name is kept for life and is composed of their father's first name, followed by "s" for possessive, followed by "son" (for boys) or "dottir" (for girls).
