Symmetry Resources at Otterbein
Now Open! The Symmetry Gallery is a collection of over 60 example molecules representing nearly 40 different point groups. (You asked for more example molecules and here they are!) All symmetry elements can be interactively diplayed along with animations of their respective operations.

- The Symmetry Gallery - An interactive collection of over 60 unique molecules with interactive display of all symmetry elements and animation of all operations. Uses Jmol. Requires Java and Javascript. Fully compatible with Internet Explorer 6 or 7 (PC), Safari (Mac), and Firefox 1.x and 2.x (PC, Mac, Linux).
- Symmetry Tutorial using Jmol - An interactive point group symmetry tutorial using the Jmol Java applet. Requires Java and Javascript. Fully compatible with Internet Explorer 6 or 7 (PC), Safari (Mac), and Firefox 1.x and 2.x (PC, Mac, Linux).
- Symmetry Tutorial using Chime - Similar to the Jmol tutorial but uses the Chime plug-in. Only works on those computers that can run the Chime plug-in (Windows/IE).
Now testing - A new Symmetry Challenge guides students through a detailed flow chart to determine the point group of any molecule. Also available - a new version of the Gallery (Symmetry Gallery 2.0) is up for testing. New features include "fill window" function and antialiased display. Any feedback on browser compatibility, content or other issues is greatly appreciated.
Faculty - Are you using this web site for a class? If so, help make this site better by having your students fill out the Symmetry Survey. It's anonymous and will provide valuable information to help us create a better resource for your students. Thanks!
